Mentorship for Quality Professionals
Helping software quality professionals grow beyond testing.
Mentorship for QA Engineers, Leads, and Managers, and for engineers and managers moving into Quality Engineering. Covers leadership, AI, metrics, and the career moves that come next.
I've led both sides, Quality Engineering and Engineering Management, across Mastercard, Oracle, Wildlife Studios, and now Madbox.
Who this is for
Built for people already doing the work.
This isn't an introduction to QA. It's for people with real experience who are ready for more scope than their current role gives them.
- QA Engineers and Senior QA Engineers who are ready for more scope than a test plan gives them.
- QA Leads and Managers who want to operate with more strategic weight in their organization.
- Software Engineers who are moving into, or already working in, Quality Engineering.
- Engineering Managers who own quality outcomes and want a stronger practice, not just more testers.
- Anyone building toward an international career in quality who isn't sure what senior roles actually expect.
Challenges I help solve
The gap is rarely skill. It's usually one of these.
Moving into leadership
You're ready to lead a quality function, but the path from senior IC to leadership isn't documented anywhere.
Feeling stuck as a Senior QA
You've hit the ceiling of what 'senior' means in your current role and don't have a clear next step.
Improving communication with Engineering Managers
You know what needs to happen, but it doesn't land the way you intend once you're in the room with engineering leadership.
Using metrics instead of intuition
Your quality decisions are still based on gut feel, and you can't yet back them with data leadership trusts.
Building a quality strategy
You've inherited, or built, a QA function with no real strategy behind it, just accumulated process over time.
Introducing AI into QA
You're expected to have a point of view on AI in QA, but no time has been set aside to separate what's real from what's hype.
Growing internationally
You're good at your job, but your CV and interview answers don't yet read like a candidate for an international leadership role.
What we'll work on
Eight areas, applied to your actual role.
We don't work through a fixed curriculum. These are the areas we draw from, applied to the decisions in front of you right now.
Career growth & QA leadership
Moving from individual contributor to leadership, whether that means managing people or growing as a technical and strategic authority.
Engineering quality
Treating quality as an engineering discipline that spans the whole delivery process, not a testing phase bolted on at the end. Drawn from actually having run both functions, not just one.
AI for QA
Where AI genuinely changes what a quality function can do, where it doesn't, and how to introduce it without overselling it internally.
Test automation strategy
Deciding what to automate, what not to, and where to invest, regardless of which tool or framework you're using.
Quality & flow metrics
Instrumenting a quality function so decisions are backed by evidence: DORA metrics, coverage, escaped defects, cycle time, flow efficiency.
Release strategy
Release trains, risk-based release decisions, and how quality gates should actually work under real delivery pressure.
Stakeholder management & influence
Building influence as a quality leader across engineering, product, and executive stakeholders who don't report to you.
International career & interview prep
CV and LinkedIn reviews, interview preparation, and positioning yourself for senior or international quality leadership roles.
Mentorship process
A simple process, no long-term lock-in.
Discovery call
A conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and whether this is the right fit. No pitch, no pressure.
Personalized plan
We define concrete goals for the engagement and the areas we'll focus on, based on your actual situation, not a template.
Regular mentoring sessions
1:1 sessions on a cadence that fits your role, working through real decisions, conversations, and material as they come up.
Action items
Every session ends with something concrete to apply before the next one. This is mentoring, not just talk.
Continuous support
Async support between sessions for what can't wait, plus a regular check-in on how the plan is tracking against your goals.

About me
Daniel Trierweiler Vieira
Head of QA, Madbox
I've spent over 19 years in software quality, the last 9 of them in QA and engineering leadership. That's included leading regression and automation strategy at Mastercard and NeoGrid, and running Quality Engineering functions at Oracle, Wildlife Studios, and now Madbox.
Along the way I've managed QA Leads and Quality Engineers across multiple teams, spent a stretch running a full engineering team as an Engineering Manager, and partnered directly with Product, Engineering, and Data leadership to embed quality into the whole delivery process instead of bolting it on at the end.
For the past 5+ years I've worked in gaming, currently as Head of QA at Madbox in Barcelona, covering live games and new titles. Quality here has to hold up against live audiences, live economies, and zero tolerance for downtime. Most recently, that's meant figuring out where AI genuinely changes what a quality function can do, and separating that from what's just noise.
What I bring to these sessions is practice, not theory. Real decisions, real trade-offs, real examples from actually building and running QA and engineering teams, not frameworks picked up from a course.

Common questions
Who is this mentorship for?+−
QA Engineers, Leads, and Managers, plus software engineers and engineering managers moving into Quality Engineering, who are serious about growing beyond hands-on testing. It's not an introduction to QA.
Is this technical or leadership focused?+−
Leadership focused. We do get into automation strategy and AI adoption, but at a decision-making level, not tool training. If you're looking for Selenium or Playwright coaching, this isn't the right fit.
How long does it last?+−
There's no fixed program length. We agree on goals during the discovery call and keep going for as long as they're relevant, usually in cycles of a few months at a time.
Can beginners join?+−
No. This is built for people who already have solid QA or engineering experience and are pushing into leadership, senior IC, or Engineering Quality scope.
Do you guarantee a promotion or a new role?+−
No, and be skeptical of anyone who does. What I can do is remove the guesswork around what's actually holding you back.
I'm not based in Europe. Does that matter?+−
No. Sessions are remote, scheduled across time zones, and most of the people I mentor are targeting international or fully remote roles themselves.
Ready to grow beyond testing?
One discovery call is enough to know if this is useful to you. No pitch deck, no pressure.
